Thank you for your interest in our 2016 survey about kratom and the DEA's plan to make kratom illegal by classifying it as a Schedule I controlled substance. Over 6,100 survey responses were received from kratom consumers.

Over 90% said kratom was "very effective" in treating their pain and 98% believe the herb is not harmful or dangerous. Many feel very passionately about kratom and say it helped relieve their chronic pain and other medical conditions, without the side effects of pharmaceutical drugs.

Respondents were overwhelmingly opposed to any federal effort to ban kratom or list it as a controlled substance.
